In order to smoothen the shock of movement and improve comfortness of driving , the auto suspension system is usually equipped with shock absorbers, And two-way tube-type shock absorber is widely used in the car.
There are four easy ways to test shock absorber by yourself.
First, driving test .
Drive the car in the poor road conditions for 10km , then touch shock absorber shell, if it’s not hot, indicating there’s no resistance inside the shock absorber.Shock absorber does not work. In this case, you can try add some lubricants, and then test again .If the temperature of the shell rises,it means the shock absorber internal lack of oil, you should add enough oil.
Second, press test.
Press the bumper, and then release, if the car would move up and down twice or three times , it means the shock absorber works well.
Third, suddend brake test.
Drive the car slowly and stop it suddently , if vibration of the car is intense, indicating a shock absorber problems.
Fourth,test on vise
remove the shock absorber, erect it, clamp the lower connecting ring on the vise, pull and press the shock absorber rod several times. At this time, there should be stable resistance. The resistance of pulling up should be greater than that of pressing down. If the resistance is unstable or no resistance, it may be that the shock absorber is lack of oil or the valve parts are damaged. Should repair or replace the parts.
